De La Salle, Wilcox To Take Part In First High School Football Games At Levi's Stadium

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) – Two Bay Area high schools, including one of the nation's most successful programs, will participate in first high school football games at the new home of the San Francisco 49ers.

According to a statement from stadium officials, the "Friday Night Lights" doubleheader will take place at Levi's Stadium on August 29th. The first game, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. that day will feature Wilcox High School of Santa Clara against Manteca High School.

Located about 3.5 miles from Levi's Stadium, Wilcox has won 13 Santa Clara Valley Athletic League football championships.

The second game, scheduled for 8 p.m. that night, will feature De La Salle High School of Concord and Jesuit High School of Sacramento.

De La Salle has won the state championship five times in the past eight years and has a record of 413 wins, 26 losses, and 3 ties over the past 35 seasons. The program holds a national record of winning 151 games in a row from 1992 to 2004.

High school football caps a busy first month at the stadium. The first sporting event at the facility is a Major League Soccer matchup between the San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC on August 2nd. Meanwhile, the 49ers will host preseason games against the Denver Broncos on August 17th and San Diego Chargers on August 24th.
