Vandals Cover Danville War Memorial With Graffiti, $6,500 Reward Offered
DANVILLE (CBS SF) -- Danville officials on Wednesday offered a $6,500 reward for information on vandals who covered a city war memorial with graffiti over the weekend.
The black and red spray-paint was discovered on the All Wars Memorial in Oak Hill Park on Monday morning, and is thought to have occurred late Sunday evening, officials said Wednesday.
The memorial, honoring all those who served in American wars, includes bronze figures, walking paths, stone walls and a historic quotation wall.
"The All Wars Memorial is dedicated to honoring the men and women who served our country," said Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins. "We hope that this reward will help lead our investigators to find out who committed this disgraceful crime."
The reward is being offered by the Town of Danville with the help of private donors for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information on the graffiti is asked to call police at (925) 314-3703 or bsliger@danville.ca.gov.
