Fleeing Suspect Shot By Daly City Police

DALY CITY (CBS SF) -- Police in Daly City were investigating a foot pursuit of a suspect that ended in an officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

On Monday at approximately 12:45 p.m., Daly City Officers responded to the 800 block of Campus Drive, on a report of a domestic dispute between a male and female. Witnesses told police the male suspect was chasing a female and was possibly armed with a knife.

Officers arrived on scene and were able to locate the suspect. The suspect led officers on a brief foot pursuit that ended after he entered the  backyard of a private residence on the 800 block of St. Francis Boulevard.

An officer contacted the suspect in the backyard, where he was shot one time. The suspect was later transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

The pursuit occurred in close proximity to the Jefferson Union High School District's main offices. An employee there confirmed that there was a lockdown because of the incident, but did not provide further details.
