Daily Madden: The Raiders Tackle Better, But Need Offense To Win

OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Raiders remain the only winless team in the NFL following a hard fought defensive battle that ended with a 13-6 Chargers win in San Diego Sunday.

"(The Raiders) did play better," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I felt the week before against Denver that their tackling was atrocious. They were terrible. And there are some things that are fundamental to the game that you have to be able to do on any level, and that is tackle. And I didn't think they tackled well. They did tackle better yesterday, their defense played better... They didn't let Philip Rivers get anything going."

But the Charges had just enough offense and special teams help to win the game.

"San Diego's punter probably won that game for them -- he kept the Raiders in terrible field position," Madden said. "A young quarterback like Derek Carr -- giving him a long field to have to navigate to score is about as tough as it can get." (6:40)
