Daily Madden: QBs Shine In Media Day Spotlight

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Some Super Bowl players enjoy media interviews. Others not so much.

"The two quarterbacks I think are outstanding," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "A lot of guys have canned answers, including the coaches, but Peyton Manning has a certain honesty. If you ask him a question, he's going to give you an answer; he's going to answer your question. Russell Wilson to me has the same thing. The way he handles things is well beyond his years...To me they're the two most impressive guys."

Players are required to attend Super Bowl Media Day, but some clearly don't like being there. Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch said very little in his brief appearance, telling reporters he likes game action more than talk.

"Most guys would rather be doing something else than sitting out there answering questions," Madden said. "How many guys do you think would do Media Day if they had a choice? I would guess half."

So why require player participation?

"Where do you cut it off? I mean, where do you say 'you're okay, you don't have to do it. But you, you don't want to do it, you have to do it.'" (6:30)
