Daily Madden: No Warm And Fuzzy Candlestick Memories

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Thursday night's Paul McCartney concert is the last event scheduled for Candlestick Park.

"I kind of wonder when someone gets nostalgic about Candlestick and (says) it was a great place," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.

Madden spent time at Candlestick as a coach, broadcaster and a fan.

"It wasn't a great place. I mean, Candlestick was never good. There were some great events there, some great games there, some championships, some great concerts. I mean all that stuff happened at Candlestick, and that's the reason to celebrate... But the edifice itself I don't think we can ever get too excited about."

One Madden pet peeve -- no bathrooms in the broadcast booths.

"The best booths when I was doing television were the ones that had bathrooms in them... You don't have many breaks, and when you do get a break when you're on television it's a short break, so you can't go very far... That was always difficult." (6:40)
