Daily Madden: NFL In L.A. Still An Uphill Battle
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The owner of the Miami Dolphins said he expects the NFL to have a team in Los Angeles within five years.
"I think that's just a guess," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "There are a lot of teams that would like to move to Los Angeles, teams that would move to Los Angeles. But there's no place to move to Los Angeles. They haven't been able to get a stadium built there. That goes all the way back to the Rams and Carroll Rosenbloom when he moved out of the Coliseum and moved down to Anaheim. It goes back to the Raiders moving there and trying to get a new stadium and then moving back. Seattle tried to move there and didn't get a stadium."
NFL observers say the Chargers, Rams and Raiders are the most likely candidates for a move to L.A.
"Getting a team to go to Los Angeles would be relatively easy," John said. "Getting a stadium in Los Angeles is really an uphill battle." (6:50)
