Daily Madden: John Preps For Championship Bocce

LIVERMORE (KCBS) - John Madden indicated he will be on the court to help his team defend their title in Wednesday's Madden-Mariucci Battle of the Bay Charity Bocce Tournament in Livermore.

Madden told the KCBS morning crew he will 'tape up' just before the pre-tournament lunch buffet.

"You have to get taped before you get the meatballs," John said. "I don't know that it happens to a lot of people, but when I eat I drip stuff in my shoes and on my socks. So (this way) I would drip meatballs on my tape job."

KCBS anchor Stan Bunger told John the KCBS Royal Pools by Adams bocce team is relaxed and ready to go.

"There's relaxed because of confidence," Madden said. "And there's also a relaxed because you don't care. So which kind of relaxed is it?"

"It would be more the latter than the former," responded KCBS sports anchor Steve Bitker.

The annual amateur event has raised more than $4 million for local youth charities. (7:30)
