Daily Madden: Big Name Signings Are Nice, But Raiders Need More

OAKLAND (KCBS) - After a disappointing first day in the market, the Raiders Thursday signed two free agents, defensive end Justin Tuck and linebacker LaMarr Woodley, both seen as top pass rushers in the NFL.

"The problem is are they still that," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "That's always the question in free agency. I think that we're making such a big thing of this free agent market - and it's a good place to fill in a player here or there - but it's nothing more than that."

Tuck was the Giants' defensive captain last season and Woodley is a former Steeler.

"Your team still has to be built with young players through the draft, and (you) develop them," Madden said. "You get a guy to fill in there and fill in here -- and the Raiders need a lot of fill in here and fill in there -- but what they really need is a good draft." (7:20)
