Curry Sporting Head Wound After Victory Over Knicks

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Whoever said basketball was not a contact sport hasn't ever watched an NBA game.

On Monday morning, Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry tweeted out a photo of the nasty scratch he suffered when New York's Carmelo Anthony grabbed his forehead in Sunday night's game.

Anthony had switched out to cover Curry outside the 3-point line in the fourth quarter of the Warriors 116-95 win over New York when he reached out in an attempt to stop him.

He inadvertantly grabbed Curry's forehead and his finger nail left a nasty scratch.

When asked about it after the game, Curry just chuckled and jokedly said the wound was the result of "some, uh, great defense."

Curry said with a chuckle when asked about the gash before later nodding when asked if it was Anthony's hand-to-head combat that left the mark. "I'm glad they called a foul, though."

Anthony said he was merely trying to slow down one of the best shooters in NBA history.

"I didn't want him to raise up...I was just trying to figure out a way how you can stop him."
