Crews Work To Restore Power To Hundreds Throughout Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Hundreds of people were without power in the Bay Area Sunday afternoon, according to a PG&E spokesman.

About 410 customers were without power in the East Bay, the largest number in the Bay Area, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

In the South Bay 136 customers were without power, while 312 customers were affected in the Peninsula.

Additionally, 116 customers were without power in the North Bay, while only a handful of customers in San Francisco were affected, according to Guidi.

Crews were working as quickly as possible to restore power, Guidi said. "As long as it's safe, they'll work around the clock."

Guidi estimated that customers affected by the outages throughout the area could have their power restored as early as late afternoon or early Sunday evening.

Friday night, about 1,549 customers were left without power in Santa Cruz starting at about 10:50 p.m.

Power has since been restored to those customers. The outage was caused by equipment failure, according to Giudi.
