Fire Crews Gain Control of 3-Alarm Blaze at SF Pacific Heights Apartment

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - San Francisco firefighters were on the scene of a three-alarm structure fire in the 1900 block of Washington Street.

The fire broke out at an apartment building at 1927 Washington St., in the city's Pacific Heights neighborhood.

The fire department announced via Twitter that the blaze had been brought under control shortly before 9 p.m.

The department says four buildings were affected but no one was hurt. They're now working to help residents displaced by the fire.

Smoke and large flames could be seen from nearby homes. A neighbor managed to capture the blaze from a rooftop balcony.

Fire officials asked people to avoid the area.

Neighbors described a chaotic scene, knocking on doors and said they had just minutes to gather their belongings and get out.
