Union City Teen Killed In Early-Morning Crash On I-880 In Hayward

HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- The identity of the person killed in a collision on Interstate 880 in Hayward Sunday morning was released by the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Izaiah Mease, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a Union City resident and was the driver of the car. Officials at the coroner's bureau said there were two passengers in the car.

The collision was reported on the southbound highway near the West A Street on-ramp at approximately 1:25 a.m.

A Sig-alert was issued at 1:37 a.m. and all lanes were blocked. Traffic was initially diverted off at West A Street, but officers later allowed vehicles to pass on the shoulder. All lanes reopened at 4:46 a.m.
