Coroner IDs Toddler Thrown From Car When Mom Hits Pole Fleeing From Another Crash

PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- A 2-year-old boy who was ejected from a car and killed Thursday when his mother was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Pittsburg was identified today by the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

Coroner's officials said Gianni Gaddis was the child killed in the incident. Police said his 30-year-old mother crashed before noon Thursday at Power Avenue near Case Drive.

The Pittsburg woman is still in the hospital, according to coroner's officials, who did not provide her name.

She struck a concrete wall and a light pole after losing control of her vehicle while fleeing from another crash, according to Pittsburg police Capt. Ron Raman.

Raman was not immediately available to comment on the investigation into her actions.
