Copper Wire Stolen From San Jose Police Activities League Field

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Police in San Jose are finding themselves the victims of a crime, after someone stole copper wire at the Police Activities League's baseball field.

According to authorities, wire was taken from one of the light stands. Police said the fix is going to be expensive and take a while.

"There's two different light towers, and since one of the light towers isn't working, there's the possibility that we might have to cancel some games in the future," Sgt. Jim Ureta of the San Jose Police Department told KPIX 5.

Police estimate it would cost $25,000 to get the lights working again.

Two big tournaments are scheduled to be played on the field in July.
