Cook Takes Selfies With iPhone 7 Customers In Palo Alto

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) – When the doors of the Apple Store in Palo Alto opened Friday, a man named David raced in but soon his disappointment was realized. He would have to order the phone and wait for its delivery.

But David's vigil did not go unrewarded. As he neared the exit, a hand was extended. When he looked up, he was shocked to see it was Apple CEO Tim Cook.

So what did David do?

He took a selfie with Cook.

"It's the first time I have ever left (an Apple store) emptyhanded," he told KPIX 5. "But I got to meet Tim Cook. I got a selfie with Tim Cook…I told someone a few hours ago, if they didn't have any (iPhone-7s in stock) but I get to meet Tim Cook, it (the overnight wait outside the store) would all be worth it."

Nearby, Eduardo Molina was smiling. He had pre-ordered his iPhone 7 so the store had it in stock and ready for pickup.

"I'm pretty stroked," he said. "I can't wait to test out the telephoto features."

It's only been nine days since the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were introduced at a San Francisco press conference and orders have been soaring..

The company is warning customers that there will be a short supply due to many pre-orders.

T-Mobile has announced that at its stores, pre-orders for the new iPhone 7 have been at a record pace.

" (The) iPhone 7 is the biggest pre-order in T-Mobile's history, and that says a lot about our momentum and the excitement customers have for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus!" said John Legere, T-Mobile president and CEO.
