Men Posing As Construction Workers Suspected In Concord Thefts

CONCORD (KPIX 5) – Police in the East Bay community of Concord are warning people to watch out for some men dressed like construction workers who are looking to steal.

Byron Dahl captured surveillance video of two men believed to be the burglars who ransacked a home on October 12th, and took a whole bunch of stuff.

"Just imagine going into your home and having everything tossed…some of his wife's grandmother's jewelry, antique weapons were stolen and two cars," Dahl told KPIX 5.

Concord Police posted still images from Dahl's video on social media, hoping the public will identify them. The main suspect is wearing a construction outfit, their getaway vehicle is a pickup truck.

"They ring the doorbell, they get no answer and nobody's home. Then they usually target that house," said Cpl. Chris Blakeley of the Concord Police Department.

Neighbor Kyle Hellmund said the homeowner changed the locks and keys to his Corvette, but the suspects came back Tuesday, and stole it again.

"They're getting older, they want to sell the business and they want to retire. That was his gift to himself, that Corvette," Hellmund said. "For them to get the Corvette two times."

One of the thieves may have been spotted on surveillance video at another home in another Concord neighborhood. Police believe it is the same suspect, wearing a different hat.

"This is not their first rodeo. I believe it's the same gentleman. And actually talking to the homeowner who sent me that video, he also confirmed that he's seen that same suspect with that same pickup truck," Blakeley said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Concord Police Department.
