Coast Guard Rescues Distressed Fishing Boat Near Duxbury Reef In Marin County

MARIN COUNTY (CBS SF) -- U.S. Coast Guard crews on Sunday assisted a distressed charter fishing vessel that was taking on water near Duxbury Reef in Marin County.

There were nine people aboard the boat Flash, according to U.S. Coast Guard officials, who received a mayday broadcast from the distressed vessel near Bolinas in Marin County on Sunday morning.

Crews responded to the vessel and safely removed seven passengers.

Editor's note: it was originally reported that the distressed vessel was named "Superfish." Both the Coast Guard and boat operator say the Superfish actually assisted in the rescue of Flash, and was not damaged.

The master of the Flash and a crewmember stayed aboard to try to combat the flooding.

Crews were also able to assist in helping to dewater the vessel and it was towed to Pier 45 in San Francisco.
