City College SF Faculty Announces One-Day Strike

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The faculty at San Francisco City College announced a one-day strike to protest plans to cut classes, lay off teachers and the administration's refusal to negotiate a new contract.

The strike is planned for Wednesday, April 27 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. All campuses will be affected.

In a flyer circulated on Tuesday, AFT Local 2121 said the administration plans to shrink classes by 26% and lay off more than a quarter of the faculty.

"Our one-day strike will send a clear message to the admin and the City College Board of Trustees and demonstrate that we stand united for the CCSF that San Francisco deserves."

It is unclear how the strike will impact students. So far, CCSF has not issued a response.
