Chrysler Delays Notification To Drivers Their Cars Could Suddenly Stall
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- After months of delays in notifying drivers older model Chryslers that their cars may stall on the road, Chrysler is still delaying sending out notification letters, according to sources.
Both Chrysler and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gave assurances that drivers of 2005 and 2006 Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Magnums would be notified by May 6th about warranty extensions because of the documented stalling problem.
However, sources inside Chrysler confirmed Wednesday that affected drivers were not notified by May 6th. Chrysler now says, "…owner letters are now scheduled to start mailing on May 14, 2014 and finish on May 19, 2014."
Chrysler has acknowledged that it was aware of more than 1,300 alleged stall incidents including at least 4 crashes, one injury, and 60 legal claims.
