CHP Searching For Driver Of White Dodge Utility Truck That Hit Bicyclist In Sonoma

SONOMA (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a white Dodge utility truck that struck a bicyclist in Sonoma Tuesday morning.

The truck struck 20-year-old Calef Warton, of Sonoma, around 8 a.m. at Grove Street and Arnold Drive, CHP Officer Anna Paulson said.

Warton was riding west on Grove Street within the crosswalk at Arnold Drive when the utility truck struck him. The truck was traveling east on Grove Street to northbound Arnold Drive, Paulson said.

Warton was knocked to the ground and suffered major injuries, Paulson said. He was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa.

The truck driver initially slowed but failed to stop and continued driving north on Arnold Drive, Paulson said.

The white, single cab, Dodge utility truck had a toolbox up against the rear window and a ladder rack, Paulson said.

Anyone who saw the collision or has information about the truck is asked to call CHP Officer R. Wayne at (707) 253-4906.
