CHP Officer Recovering After Friday Night Hit-And-Run In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A California Highway Patrol officer is recovering after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose on Friday night.

Two officers were issuing a traffic ticket along on Highway 101 north of Alum Rock Avenue around 10:40 p.m. when the driver of a silver sedan sideswiped the officers' patrol vehicle and hit one of the officers, according to the CHP.

The force of the collision knocked one officer into the other.

Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan fled the scene and remains at large, according to the CHP.

The officer hit, a 25-year-old man from San Jose, was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, the CHP is reporting.

He is expected to make a full recovery.
