SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- One person was killed and two others were wounded in a possible gang-related shooting on Interstate Highway 80 near the upper deck of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco late Tuesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the shooting was reported at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday on westbound I-80 approaching the Fremont Street exit.

Authorities said two passengers in a gray Infiniti were hit. A 20-year-old man died, while a 19-year-old suffered major injuries. A driver of a Honda suffered minor injuries in the shooting.

The CHP said the shooting was apparently targeted and possibly gang-related.

All lanes of westbound I-80 were closed for several hours, but have since opened.

Because of the current shelter-in-place restrictions, commute traffic has been extremely light for several weeks. Still a severe back-up extended on the Bay Bridge past Yerba Buena Island and nearing the toll plaza during the closure.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP Golden Gate tipline at 707-917-4491.
