CHP Chase Car On I-280 In Millbrae With Possible Link To San Francisco Shooting

MILLBRAE (CBS SF) -- California Highway Patrol officers Wednesday afternoon pursued a vehicle that may be associated with a shooting in San Francisco's Mission District, a CHP spokesman said.

The pursuit started at about 2:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate Highway 280 in Millbrae when an officer tried to stop a driver of the vehicle for speeding, CHP spokesman Officer Vu Williams said.

The driver appeared to be stopping but then accelerated on the freeway before getting off at Alemany Boulevard in San Francisco, Williams said.

The driver then got on southbound I-280 before getting off on San Jose Avenue. The driver then made a right turn and was driving south in the northbound lanes of Alemany when CHP officers ended their pursuit.

A CHP officer was able to get the vehicle's license plate number that was given to San Francisco police.

CHP officials are also investigating whether the vehicle was involved in other criminal offenses, Williams said.

San Francisco police were not immediately available to provide more details on the shooting.
