Daytime Video Captures Drivers Shutting Down I-880 In Oakland For Sideshow Stunts

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A sideshow that shut down Interstate 880 in Oakland Sunday by blocking all northbound lanes may have been part of a rap video shoot.

Video of the incident shows several young people getting out of their cars on the freeway to record an organized shutdown of the road in the Northbound direction near the Hegenberger Expressway.

At least five vehicles are involved in the stunts, with some drivers spinning donuts on the roadway while others simply drove around with passengers hanging out of windows and doors.

California Highway Patrol officers say they arrested a 19-year-old Hayward man during the stunts.

One officer reported being pelted with rocks and bottles once on scene, officer Sean Wilkenfeld said.

The officer stopped a red Ford Mustang and Wilkenfeld said the officer cited the driver for reckless driving and impounded the vehicle for 30 days.  Officers say the stunt may have been part of a rap video shoot.

"We did have some comments from the people on the stop that they were making a rap video and we want to remind people, if you do, there is a permit process that you can go through to do it properly, and to do it safely," Wilkinfeld said.

Wilkenfeld said officers have identified at least two other people who may have been participating in the sideshow.

Multiple videos are being posted to Youtube and Instagram of this and other sideshows over the weekend (SCROLL for more).

Wilkenfeld said he didn't know how long the show lasted or how many people participated, but he hopes the video can lead to additional arrests.
