Chiropractor Faces Sexual Battery Charge For Allegedly Fondling Patient

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A Concord chiropractor was arrested on Friday in connection with a reported sexual battery incident involving a patient last month, according to police.

Steven Moon, who has been a chiropractor in the area for more than 30 years, was accused of inappropriately touching a woman during an appointment at Optimized Chiropractic at 5161 Clayton Road, according to police.

He has been charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office with felony sexual battery by fraud in connection with the March 8 incident.

On that day, Moon allegedly recommended massage therapy to one of his chiropractic patients, a 33-year-old woman who been one of Moon's patients for several years, Cpl. Christopher Blakely said.

Moon performed the massage himself, Blakely said.

"We learned that this is not a common practice for chiropractors," Blakely said.

Moon is accused of touching the woman's breasts and buttocks during the massage, Blakely said.

The day after, the woman reported the incident to Concord police and, following an investigation, Moon was arrested around 4 p.m. Friday.

He was booked into the Police Department's jail but later posted bail, according to police.

Blakely said there is only one victim who has been identified in the case.

Anyone with additional information about the case has been asked to call Concord police investigators at (925) 671-3030. Those wishing to remain anonymous can do so by calling (925) 603-5836.
