Child Burned In Vallejo Home Fire

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A child suffered minor burns when a fire races through his family's Vallejo home early Thursday, authorities said.

According to the Vallejo Fire Department, the blaze was first reported just before 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of Carl Avenue.

Responding firefighters found flames billowing out of the house and aggressively attacked the blaze. It was extinguished by around 2 a.m.

A child was transported to the hospital after suffering minor to moderate burns, according to the fire department.

An adult also suffered minor injuries but opted not to go to the hospital.

Fire officials said the blaze was mostly contained to the rear of the residence, but there was extensive damage to the home and it is uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
