2 Injured After Chase On I-80 In Crockett Ends With Crash

CROCKETT (CBS SF) -- Two people suffered minor injuries when a vehicle pursuit by Vallejo police ended in a three-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Crockett Tuesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.

The CHP learned at 3:18 p.m. that Vallejo police were pursuing a Mercedes on westbound I-80, CHP Officer Damian Cistaro said. A Sig-alert was issued at 3:38 p.m.

The pursuit crossed the Carquinez Bridge and ended in a hit-and-run collision involving the Mercedes, a Honda CRV and a Honda Civic just east of San Pablo Avenue, Cistaro said.

The CHP was not involved in the pursuit but was investigating the hit-and-run collision, Cistaro said.

One of the two injured persons was taken to a hospital, Cistaro said.

Vallejo police were not available late Tuesday afternoon for information about what led to the pursuit.
