Former HP CEO Fiorina Backs Cruz In Battle With Trump

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Former Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, as some in the GOP try to thwart frontrunner Donald Trump's bid for the party's nomination.

According to The Associated Press, Fiorina spoke at a rally in Miami and called Cruz a "leader and reformer... willing to take on the status quo in Washington." Florida will hold its Republican primary on Tuesday.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO dropped out of the race last month, after failing to gain enough votes in the Iowa Caucuses.

Fiorina is not the only Republican with Silicon Valley ties criticizing Trump. Last week, Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO Meg Whitman criticized the frontrunner on CNBC, calling him a "dishonest demagogue." Whitman also said if Trump is elected, the businessman's policies would lead the country into a recession.
