Car Hits 2 Children In San Francisco Marina District; Driver Arrested For DUI
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Two children suffered life-threatening injuries after they were hit by a car in a San Francisco intersection Wednesday morning and a driver was arrested at the scene for suspicion of DUI.
The collision occurred at about 8:30 a.m. at Buchanan and Bay streets in the city's Marina District not far from Marina Middle School.
Police spokesperson Albie Esparza said the boys were expected to survive.
The driver of the vehicle, a Volkswagen Tiguan SUV stayed at the collision site and was booked for DUI, police said. She was identified as 30-year-old Kirsten Andereck of San Francisco.
Police said streets around the accident were reopened at about 11:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, parents and neighbors near Marina Middle School have been railing for years about problems on Bay Street; especially the dangerous speed of drivers.
