Car Strikes, Kills Mountain Lion On I-280 In San Bruno (WARNING: Contains Graphic Images)

SAN BRUNO (CBS SF) -- A car struck and killed a mountain lion Friday morning on southbound Interstate 280 in San Bruno, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported shortly after 8 a.m. near the Sneath Lane exit.

The driver didn't stop and was most likely unaware anything had been hit, according to CHP spokesman Vu Williams, who said that this type of incident is very uncommon.

Fish and Wildlife took the deceased cat to the lab for testing at about 9 a.m.
