Driver Arrested After Car Strikes Hydrant, Smashes Into Restaurant In Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- A car caromed off a fire hydrant and into a pizza restaurant early Saturday in Santa Clara, producing a spectacular geyser, flooding streets around Homestead and Woodhams Road and soaking responding fire crews.

The driver fled on foot after the car came to rest inside the dining room of Stuft Pizza around 1 a.m. Saturday but he was caught a few blocks away near his residence and was charged with hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
It took crews at least 30 minutes to turn off the water, police said.
