Mustang Smashes Into Dublin Mexican Restaurant, 6 Patrons And Driver Hurt

DUBLIN (KPIX 5) -- A car crashed into a Mexican restaurant in Dublin while people were having dinner Thursday evening, injuring six patrons inside along with the driver.

KPIX 5 chopper video showed a black Ford Mustang convertible that had smashed through the glass of Taqueria Los Pericos located at 7425 Village Parkway in Dublin.

"We just heard a big boom, a big boom," said Melissa Malissanasiri, who witnessed the crash, told KPIX 5. "And I ran out here, and everybody was screaming."

According to Lieutenant Nate Schmidt of the Dublin Police Department, a 56-year old woman was attempting to park the car in front of the restaurant when she accidentally accelerated, causing the car to crash through the front windows.

The six people inside the restaurant who were hurt include a pregnant woman, and a man who was pinned underneath the car during the crash. The victims were transported to local hospitals, Schmidt said. While some of the patrons suffered serious injuries, none appear to be life threatening.

Schmidt said the driver also received medical attention following the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
