Firefighters were called at 4:17 p.m. to the store on E. 14th St. Six people required transport by ambulance to local hospitals, though none of the injuries were considered life threatening.

San Leandro police said the collision occurred at a 7-Eleven, 333 E. 14th Street, around 4:16 pm.

Apparently, a sedan with a solo female driver was backing in the parking lot when it struck a parked car. The driver then accelerated forward and drove partway through the front entrance of the store, causing extensive structural damage.

"The number of injured subjects by my staff's count was 7 people," said San Leandro Police PIO Acting Lt. E.A. Teng in an email to KPIX 5. " They were medically treated/transported for minor to serious injuries, non-life-threatening from the last update."

The driver of the vehicle was medically examined and released on scene.

"At this point of our investigation, the collision appears to be accidental in nature," Teng said.
