Car Involved In Collision Hits Caltrain Crossing Gate

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- A two-car collision damaged a Caltrain crossing gate in Sunnyvale and has disrupted service Thursday afternoon, a transit agency spokeswoman said.

Caltrain officials were notified around 12:45 p.m. of the collision at Mary Avenue, Caltrain spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.

One of the two cars struck the crossing gate. No Caltrain train was involved in the collision, Ackemann said.

Southbound train No. 146 was held at the Mountain View station and northbound train No. 147 was held at the Sunnyvale station, agency officials said.

Both trains were released at about 1 p.m. but were delayed by more than 30 minutes, according to agency officials.

No further details about the incident were immediately available.
