Car Found On Beach In Jenner After Possibly Crashing From Cliff Above

JENNER (AP) -- A car fell from Highway 1 off a cliff in Sonoma County to land on the beach below, but firefighters have not yet located any victims of the crash.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that first responders on Monday found a badly damaged Subaru on a beach north of Jenner below Highway 1, but the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department searchers did not find anyone inside.

The search was expected to continue Tuesday morning.

Monte Rio Fire Chief Steve Baxman says he's seen instances of people pushing cars off cliffs before, but tire tracks leading off the cliff make that seem unlikely. He says he is hopeful no victims are found.
