Campaign Launches To Stop Massive 1,000-Foot Water Slide From Coming To California, Bay Area Cities

(CBS SF) -- A movement to stop a Utah company's plan to bring a giant 1,000-foot water slide to 15 major California cities this summer has already collected hundreds of signatures.

Citing the state's continued drought crisis, petitioner Paul Duffy says Slide the City has not explained how much water will be used during the event or where it will come from.

He added that six cities have already been removed from the 15 California dates, which includes Santa Cruz, one of six Bay Area cities the event is planned to take place.

The petition is about 600 signatures shy of it's 1,000 goal.

Tickets for Slide the City run from a single ride pass for $15 to a $60 VIP all-day slider pass with dates planned in Oakland, San Jose, San Francisco, Vallejo and San Rafael.
