Caltrans To Close Eastbound Caldecott Tunnel Bores For Overnight Inspections

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- Caltrans will close one of the two eastbound Caldecott Tunnel bores during overnight hours on three days this week to complete an annual inspection.

Bores 1 and 2, which take drivers east on state Highway 24 between Alameda and Contra Costa counties, will be inspected.

Bore 1 will be closed Monday night and Bore 2 will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The closures are from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Caltrans has said traffic delays and construction noise may be associated with the closure and advised motorists to plan for extra time on their commutes.

California Highway Patrol officers will be on site during the night closures, according to Caltrans.
