Caltrans Cleanup Crew Runs Over Homeless Woman In San Jose

SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- A homeless woman inside a tent was run over by a Caltrans truck Friday morning as workers were attempting to clean up an encampment along Highway 101 and Story road in San Jose.

CHP Officer Ross Lee said the woman's injuries are considered minor.

The truck was some type of loader, either a dump truck style vehicle or a front loader used to pick up debris.

Lee said additional CHP units were called to investigate, among other things, why workers did not make sure there was no one in the tent before they started work on the site.
