California Attorney General Kamala Harris To Wed

SACRAMENTO (AP) — California Attorney General Kamala Harris is engaged to marry an attorney from Los Angeles after a yearlong courtship.

Spokesman David Beltran said Monday that Harris met Douglas Emhoff on a blind date set up by a friend. Both are 49 years old.

He is partner in charge of the Los Angeles office of the Venable LLP law firm, and Beltran says Emhoff proposed on March 27 at Harris' San Francisco apartment. They plan to keep two households, one in San Francisco and one in Los Angeles.

He says Harris is "thrilled and looking forward this next chapter in her life."

The couple has yet to set a wedding date. It will be her first marriage and his second. Emhoff has two children, one in college and one in high school.

Harris was once dubbed the 'best-looking' attorney general by President Obama during a Bay Area fundraising trip, a quip for which the President later apologized.
