Caldecott Tunnel 3rd Bore, WB Hwy. 24 Closed Midnight to 5 A.M. Sunday

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The third bore of the Caldecott Tunnel and part of westbound state Highway 24 near the tunnel in Oakland will close for several hours early Sunday morning to enable the removal of an old roadway sign, according to Caltrans.

From 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Caltrans will close left lanes for nearly a mile on westbound Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel in Orinda. The tunnel's third bore and westbound Highway 24 in Oakland from the tunnel to the northbound state Highway 13 connector will also be closed, according to Caltrans.

Crews will work overnight to remove an old, 80-foot-wide directional sign that has been replaced by new signs, Caltrans officials said.

Eastbound traffic on Highway 24 will remain open to traffic during the closures.
