Smoke From Burned Granola Prompts Call To Oakland Firefighters

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Firefighters cleared the scene of a building initially reported as the scene of a structure fire in West Oakland Thursday morning, a fire dispatcher said.

A report of a one-alarm fire at a three-story building in the 1200 block of 14th Street came in at about 12:20 a.m., according to the fire dispatcher.

At the scene firefighters learned someone was cooking granola that created lots of smoke in the building, the fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters used an exhaust pipe to relieve smoke from the building, according to the fire dispatcher.

Units cleared the scene by 1 a.m., the fire dispatcher said.
