Burglars Steal 46 Bikes From Uptown Oakland Shop
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Local business owners and Oakland police are seeking the public's help in locating stolen merchandise and wanted suspects after a bicycle store burglary that took place Saturday, police said.
Bay Area Bikes in Uptown Oakland was broken into early Saturday morning, resulting in the theft of 46 bicycles, according to Oakland police.
Taken from the store were 15 Brompton folding bikes, 20 Tern folding bikes, three Dahon folding bikes, two electric Stromer bikes without battery chargers, and one Xtrangle cargo bike, police said.
Oakland police officers have been able to make arrests and recover some of the Tern bikes with the help of observant community members.
Business owners were also able to provide video footage to the police, aiding in identification and arrests within hours after the break-in, police said.
