Evacuation Orders Lifted After Brush Fire Burns Near Healdsburg

HEALDBURG (CBS SF) -- Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for a neighborhood near Healdsburg where a brush fire quickly spread to within yards of homes.

The fire was reported around 1:40 p.m. near Westside Road and Madrona Knolls Road in unincorporated Sonoma County. There was a mandatory evacuation of at least a dozen homes along Madrona Knolls Road.

The fire was approximately 5-10 acres according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

The Healdsburg Fire Department posted about the brush fire shortly after 2:30 p.m. The department as well as crews from Cal Fire, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Forestville and Geyserville.

As of shortly after 3:30 p.m., Sonoma County officials said the forward progress of the fire had been stopped. By 5:30 p.m. evacuees were advised they could return to their homes.
