Life-Size Bronze Statue Stolen From UC Berkeley Boathouse

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Police are investigating the recent theft of an $80,000 life-size bronze statue from the University of California Berkeley Boathouse in Oakland.

Officers responded Tuesday to the boathouse a 2999 Glascock St. on a reported the 300-pound statue was stolen overnight.

The life-size bronze statue depicts Berkeley crew coach Carrol 'Ky' Ebright, who coached Cal crew teams to three Olympic gold medals and multiple other championships in the early 20^th century, police said.

The statue's value is estimated at $80,000, and it was funded by Cal alumni donations.
