Daredevils Busted For Climbing 730 Feet To Take 'Bridge Selfies' In Auburn

PLACER COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Adventure junkies in the Sierra foothills are putting themselves in dangerous situations just to get photos of themselves on the Internet.

People are taking those photos high up on Auburn's Foresthill Bridge by walking on a unsafe catwalk, according to CBS Sacramento. One misstep and it'd be impossible to survive the 730-foot drop into the American River canyon.

Conner Wickham came to explore the bridge on Tuesday after seeing a friend post a picture.

"I've seen some of the pictures, people way out there, I'd personally never consider it," he said. "But I definitely see the appeal. That's for sure."

Over the weekend, Placer County Sheriff's deputies cited about 20 people for trespassing on the bridge.
