Person dies in Brentwood house fire

One person died in a two-alarm house fire in Brentwood Wednesday evening, fire officials said.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said the fire burned a two-story home on Nicholas Court between Central Boulevard and Dainty Avenue at about 11 p.m.

A fire battalion chief told The Brentwood Press the fire began in the garage and moved all the way into the attic.

Firefighters were told by neighbors that there was possibly a victim inside the house, but during the initial response firefighters were not able to locate the victim, Battalion Chief Brandon Burruss told The Press.

"Once we had more people here we were able to locate the victim, and that victim was in the garage," Burruss told The Press.

There were no further details immediately released about the fire.
