Brazen Gunman Opens Fire On Emeryville Street In Broad Daylight

EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) -- A brazen gunman leaned out of the window of a passing car and opened fire on a busy Emeryville street Wednesday, stunning local residents and motorists, authorities said.

Emeryville police Chief Jennifer Tejada said shots were fired from a passing car at about 11:30 a.m. near 45th Street and Adeline Street. Witnesses told police that a gray sedan was being chased by a white sedan.

A stunning image of the gunman was captured on a camera as he leaned out of the white sedan, the gun clearly visible. Investigators hoped the cellphone photo would lead to the suspect being identified.

Officers responded to the scene and located numerous shell casings. One parked vehicle was hit by gunfire, but no injuries were reported and there were no reports of any other property damage.

The suspects remain at large. Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to call Emeryville police at (510) 596-3700.
