A young boy who went missing Thursday morning in Milpitas has been found safe, police said.

Nine-year-old Harshail Kumar was last seen at about 10:15 a.m. at the Edge Apartments at 765 Montague Expressway, across from the Milpitas BART station.

"We sincerely thank the community, all the volunteers who stepped forward, and our partners at the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue Team for all your support and help!" Milpitas police said in a social media post. "Additional information will be shared at a later time."

Police had been analyzing surveillance video images and had worked with the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue team on extensive searches.

"Search teams and volunteers are actively searching, canvassing neighborhoods, and conducting ground and aerial searches," the department said before the boy was found.

No other information on the circumstances of the boy's disappearance was available.

On Saturday, only days after the search, Milpitas Police said they arrested the child's mother on suspicion of hiding him and falsely reporting him missing.
