Bookies Now See A's, Giants As Favorites To Meet In World Series

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's have been getting it done on the field for weeks, and it appears the odds makers in Las Vegas have finally taken note.

The Major League Baseball leading Giants at 38-21 entering action Thursday and the American League Best A's at 37-22 are now the favorites to meet the fall classic.

Gaming website Bovada puts the Giants as a 3/1 favorite to take the National League pennant, while the A's are listed as 13/4 to take the American league crown. The Cardinals (4/1) and Tigers (7/2) have the next best odds to advance in the respective leagues. As for the favorite to win it all, the Giants (6/1) have a slight edge over the A's (13/2) - It is an even-numberd year after all.

The website Vegas.com still gives the Tigers a slight edge over both the Giants and A's to win it all.

Just this week the two teams overtook the Tigers for the top two spots on the CBS Local Power Rankings.

Giants fans have been itching for a Bay Bridge World Series rematch since being swept in the earthquake-interrupted 1989 World Series matchup.
